LOIS AND CLARK MEMBER LANE SMITH DIES
It is with great sadness that we share the news that actor Lane Smith,
who many fans recently became re-acquainted with on the Lois & Clark DVD set, has died this morning, June 13, at
the age of 69.
Smith had suffered from ALS in his later years. To fans, he
will always be remembered for his portrayal of Perry White in all four seasons of Lois & Clark.
Here is the statement we received from a family member:
Hi and thanks for your concern and good wishes and prayers.
We are sorry to tell you that my Uncle Lane Smith died earlier today, a blessed relief from his ALS. Thank you so much for
your support.

Lex Luthor Feels For Darth Vader StarWars.com has posted another, longer interview with Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) where he talks more about the similarities
between the destinies of Star Wars' Anakin Skywalker and Smallville's Lex Luthor.
"It's this tug of war with this kid who's a lost soul to begin
with," Rosenbaum explains. "He's trying to be good, but he knows what he's doing is wrong. Sometimes people have to make these
pivotal decisions that change their lives. Obviously, the character of Lex Luthor I'm playing on 'Smallville' is having similar
issues. He's destined to be the villain against Superman, but he's trying everything he can to be the good guy. I think that's
what Anakin is trying to do. He knows what he's doing is wrong; he feels remorseful. And there's a point when you see this
guy who's struggling with his feelings and his emotions with these difficult choices, and then there's this complete transformation
in not only the way Anakin looks, but also his eyes -- he's dead behind them. He's given up. He thinks that the Council doesn't
trust him, or like him and won't give him a chance." "On 'Smallville'
my mother is killed and we don't know how she really died," Rosenbaum continues. "And who is my father? Lex and Anakin both
have these traumatic things that happen to them, and yet people see them and think they're monsters who deserve what they
get. But then you see the story of Darth Vader in this film and you really feel for him. You know he's a bad guy and he should
be locked up, but at the same time it's not so simple. "
SMALLVILLE FLIES TO THURSDAYS FOR SEASON 5
The WB's Fall 2005 schedule has been announced, and Smallville is
finally leaving its very-busy Wednesday-at-8 timeslot.
Smallville will is being re-located to the Thursday-at-8
timeslot, preceeding Everwood, which will air Thursdays at 9:00. Here's how the WB describes the new season on their official website:
Smallville continues to successfully explore the legacy of one
of America's greatest cultural icons. With a rabid fanbase and 3 top-selling seasons on DVD, it's clear that Clark Kent's
journey into manhood will keep on thrilling millions of young adult WB viewers.
For Clark (Tom Welling), now the most
eligible bachelor in Kansas, it's hard hiding his extraordinary gifts behind farmboy flannel. Now he's off to college, enrolling
close to his home (and sweetheart Lana), but still heeding the call of his Kryptonian destiny. Remaining true to the original
mythology, Clark finds himself traveling great distances to unlock his true potential. Lex Luthor, meanwhile, continues battling
for control of his father's company as he comes to realize his own destiny, one bent on power, destruction, and revenge.
Now
that Smallville will be moving to Thursdays at 8PM, it will face some tough competition. It will be going up against
two of NBC's famous sitcoms (Joey and Will & Grace), and ABC's Alias is moving to the same time slot as well. All of the
networks have not yet announced their plans, so The O.C. and Survivor may also still be on Thursdays at 9 too. "This season, we're making a bold statement on Thursday nights by moving one
of our signature hits, Smallville, to 8:00," WB Entertainment President David Janollari said in a press release. "The show
faced some of the toughest competition of any series on television this season, going up against Lost every week, yet it continued
to deliver great ratings," he said. With the critically acclaimed drama Everwood moving into the 9:00 timeslot, we think Thursday
will be one of the most compelling nights of the upcoming season.
SMALLVILLE LOSES JENSEN ACKLES TO NEW SUPERNATURAL
Starting this season, Jensen Ackles is taking a permanent leave
of absence to work on his new series, where he will work alongside Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls). Supernatural will
be taking over Smallville's old timeslot(Tuesdays at 9:00).
RELATED STARS SMALLVILLE'S
"TINA GREER"
It seems that Smallville has produced more than one rising
WB star. Lizzy Caplan, who played Tina Greer in "X-Ray" and "Visage," is taking her place as one of the stars of the new Wednesday-night
series Related.
