Background:
Set is the tiny, close-knit town of Smallville,
Kansas, this show depicts the story of Clark Kent (a.k.a. young Superman). Along with loving, understanding, slightly overprotecting
parents Jonothan and Martha Kent, Clark discovers and attempts to control his newfound, extraordinary abilities, which
include super speed, x-ray vision, heat vision, super-far hearing, super strength, invinsibility (except by the dreaded Kryptonite,
his only weakness and fragments of his home planet, Krypton), and of course- what else- immortality (or so we think). Notice
the many "supers" that appear here? The mystery of the name Superman is solved. Here, Superman's "high school sweetheart,"
Lana Lang, appears as a coffee shop manager with dead parents (a dead mother and newly found father, to be exact), an old
cheerleading uniform, and a dead football playing army boyfriend (a.k.a. Whitney Fordman). His on-and-off, awkward and confusing
relationship with Lana slowly becomes more intense as time (and show seasons) increases. His best friend, Pete Ross, moves
away to Grandville with his mother after she decides to move (leaving him with the choice of staying or going) and the
burden of carrying Clark's secret becomes too much for him to handle. His other best friend, Chloe Sullivan, is editor of
the high school newspaper, "The Torch," and owner of the "Wall of Wierd" (a.k.a. an enormous bullitein board on which the
stories/pictures of every wierd, allegedly meteor rock induced occurance that has ever disrupted the course of activity in
Smallville) are pinned up. After pulling Lex (Alexander) Luthor out of a river after he ran his Porsch off of a bridge, Clark
befriended the rich heir to the Luthor fortune/company, LuthorCorp. Lex's father, Lionel Luthor, moved Lex to their recently
constructed 75-room Scottish mansion in an attempt to get him to become more of a follower and less of a business opponent
to his father (especially once he started his own major business, Lex Corp). In Season 1, Clark begins to discover abilities
beyond his super strength and speed. His ability to withstand physical harm slowly increases, and he befriends Lana. In Season
2, Clark's abilities become stronger and more controllable, and his feelings for Lana show the first signs of reciprocation.
In the third season, Clark becomes basically indestructable (except, for the tenth time, by Kryptonite), Pete learns his secret,
and he discovers the Kowacci Caves, along with the spirit or voice or will or something like that of Jor-El, Clark's (a.k.a.
Kal-El's) birth father. We also discover that Clark's birthmother's name is Lara (what a wonderful ending to a last scene
featuring very sad music, which is coming soon to our "Music" page, and Martha Kent), and Pete leaves for Grandville with
his mom after a brutal divorce and stress over the keeping of Clark's secret. Anyway, season 4 sports many exciting and
illuminating discoveries, including Jason and Genevieve Teague, Chloe's discovery (although not reveal) of Clark's secret
(discovery induced by meteor affected beauty Alicia Baker- you may remember her from episide 3-14-- Obsession, and episode
4-11-- Unsafe), the arrival of Lois Lane (who has so kindly nicknamed Clark "Smallville"- take a wild guess as to why
Metropolis girl Lois would give him the oh-so-nice nickname...!), the discovery and reuniting of the 3 Elements (which somehow
brings Clark to Alaska- a.k.a. where Superman's Fortress of Solitude is- while Lex and Chloe watch in awe as he disappears,
and the BLODDY, BRUTAL STABBING/MURDER of Genevieve Teague (who wants the 3 Elements as badly as Lex does) by LANA
(although it was in self-defense- Genevieve was trying to kill Lana so that she could get the 3rd Element)!!!!!! Poor
Lana... innocent, sweet Lana having to actually kill someone. Jason teague also dies, and ANOTHER METEOR SHOWER
HITS SMALLVILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, that's all we have now, but stay tuned because we are going to have plenty
more to talk about when the season 5 finale airs (expect is sometime in very early fall- the exact date has not yet been
released), and we FINALLY FIND OUT WHAT THE HELL THAT CRATER LANA SAW AS THE CAMERA PANNED THE LAST RUINS OF SMALLVILLE
WAS....
THE TOWN OF SMALLVILLE:

THE TALON
PAST
Built by vaudevillian and Smallville native William Talon, the 560-seat
Talon Theater raised its curtain on September 9, 1939, with a matinee screening of The Wizard of Oz and would later celebrate
its 60th anniversary (though rebuilt in 1955) with a showing of the restored, re-released version of the family classic in
1999 for the original matinee admission price of 45˘.
Plush couches and upholstered chairs lined the Talon's lobby while its
regally draped proscenium stood before royal red velour seats, graceful moldings and splendid wall sconces. Though primarily
a movie house, the theater also hosted the Kansas Philharmonic when the orchestra visited Smallville.
Unfortunately the old Talon burned down in the Main Street fire of 1955
that also destroyed Miller's Newsstand and Bea's Candy and Soda Shoppe.
Undeterred, William Talon immediately made plans to rebuild and, on November
29, 1955, the Talon reopened its doors to a full house of teenagers eager to see James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause.
The new 750-seat movie house was a sleek, modern luxury with its undulating
exterior faŤade and neon sign that, letter-by-letter, spelled out the theater's name repeatedly. Inside, backlit photos
of Hollywood's biggest stars adorned the lobby walls and a brilliant glass and chrome popcorn maker lured patrons to the snack
stand with its buttery aroma. Gently curved staircases on each side of the theater led to a spacious balcony, a favorite
spot for teenagers. The theater boasted a CinemaScope screen, and the projection room was equipped with Simplex XL projectors
and magnetic sound system.
Having remained family-owned and operated until 2000, the Talon saw its
patronage fall over the years due to the proliferation of large-chain multiplex theaters, and on February 26, 2000, the Talon
Theater dimmed its lights for the last time.
PRESENT
In 2000, entrepreneur Nell Potter acquired the Talon Theater. Unable
to find a new tenant to revive the old movie house, Potter sold the property in 2002 to local businessman Lex Luthor (see
Luthor Mansion) who planned to raze it and build a parking structure for the downtown area. With the future of the old
theater in danger, Smallville High student Lana Lang (niece of Nell Potter) lobbied Luthor to recognize the benefits of historical
preservation. Impressed with Lang's conviction and her ideas for the treasured landmark, Luthor scrapped his plans.
Today, with wireless Internet access and occasional live music, the Talon is one of the hippest coffeehouses and gathering
places in Smallville.

or trivia, please e-mail us!!! You can contact us by going to the Contact Us page. we would really appreciate it... Thanks!
Clark Kent
Role: Main character- "Young Superman"
Destiny: WHO KNOWS!!! Jor-El wants him to be an evil world dictator,
his parents just want him to be happy, and he has no idea what he wants! So who knows.
Abilities include: Super speed, super strength, super-far hearing,
invincibility (except by the dreaded Kryptonite, his one weakness and the fragments of his home planet, Krypton), heat vision,
x-ray vision, and possibly immortality (that one was drawn from the psychic old lady's vision in episode .
Chloe Sullivan
Role: Outgoing, journalist best friend to our
very own Clark Kent
Relationships: Well, she has fallen for a variety
of guys, including a guy who could move things telepathically (see: English class) and killed their principal, a guy who could
split himself into two people (see: The Torch), and, of course, Clark. Clark, Clark, Clark.... They went to the Spring
Formal together, but he deserted her to save Lana from the spinning inner vortex of a tornado. However, she kept all of the
pictures digitally copied into her computer in the Torch office, and, as seen in Devoted (see: Episode Guide
page). That talk she had with Clark at the end of the episode was inspiring...
Kissing Clark: She gave Clark his first kiss
when she moved to Smallville from Metropolis in 8th grade. He was assigned to be her guide and show her around school and
the town, when she found out that he lived on a farm and insisted that he invite her over and give her a taste of farm
life firsthand. He brought her up to his loft (or his "Fortress of Solitude," as Mr. Kent calls it) and she kissed him, saying
that she knew that he'd been thinking about it all day and that they might as well get it over with.
Lana Lang
Role: On/off girlfriend/VERY good friend of
Clark and Chloe- business partners with Lex Luthor in The Talon
Past boyfriends: Her first high school boyfriend
for two years, Whitney Fordman, was killed while serving in the army- he left during the Season 2 Finale (tornados and spring
formal ring a bell?!) She also had a potential relationship with splits-himself-in-two man Ian Foster (episode 3- , ), and
was in a VERY short-term relationship with Clark (it lasted no more than two episodes, three tops, one minimum). Also Adam,
who was being kept alive by Clark's blood (go figure- the guy that she loved was living on CLARK'S BLOOD...). That relationship
lasted a lond time- almost a whole season!
Family Life: Lana's parents (or mother and thought-to-be-but-not
blood father) were killed in front of Nell's (Lana's aunt on her mother's side) flower shop during the meteor shower. A picture
of a crying, dirty three year old Lana dressed in a fairy princess costume graced the cover of Time magazine
in 1989, and she was then adopted by Nell. Fourteen years later, Nell married and moved with her new husband to Metropolis.
Lana, refusing to uproot her life andleave The Talon, her life and her friends, was taken in by Chloe and her father
(her mother had walked out on the Sullivans years ago), until she moved out and into the upstairs apartment of the Talon a
year (or a season) ago. Oh, yeah, and also: Lana found pictures of her mother and a man named Henry Small taken the year she
was born (a.k.a. the year she was born), gave them to Lex for a search and identification, and discovered that Lana was the
child of Laura Lang and Henry Small, not her alleged father. Henry was always a bit distant and quite hesitant at first, but
they built up a solid relationship until his wife announced that she was going to leave him because he was spending all of
his time with Lana instead of her. When she was told this, Lana told Mr. Small that he should forget about her for a while
and spend more time with his wife.We have not heard from him since, however, we are quite sure that he is still thinking of
her.
Pete Ross
Role: Clark's best friend since third grade for Seasons 1-3, until
the burden of bearing Clark's secret became too much for him to handle, and he moved with his mother to Grandville.
Family history: His family has lived in Smallville FOREVER!!! His
family did own a creamed corn factory/business, until LuthorCorp (a.k.a. Lionel Luthor) somehow took it away from them. He
has three older brothers and a younger sister, and his parents divorced towards the end of the third season. He moved
away to Grandville with his mother (also at the end of the third season) under the pretence of terrible emotional pain because
of his knowledge of Clark's secret. His mother is a judge, and we are not quite sure of his father's occupation. If you know
what his dad's line of work is, contact us by clicking on the link below.
Lex Luthor
Role: Best friend to Clark, business partner
to Lana, enemy to Pete, friend to Chloe, passive slight enemy to Jonothan Kent, friend to Martha Kent, son of Lionel Luthor.
Dirty business: Lex always considered his father
an enemy, someone who he should strive to defeat. He worked his way out from under daddy's thumb and founded Lex Corp, a company
that, in the span of about half a season, flourished slightly and then failed. Lionel always kept Lex under close surveilance,
and never let him stray too far out into the business world without yanking his back into his own little circle of control
and power. In the second season (or was it first?...), one of the fertilizer plants that Lex was managing began to sink into
a pit of money problems. Lex organized an employee buyout of the plant, and his father, wanting oh-so-badly for him to fail,
found a way to stop the buyout from ever taking place. When Lex Corp finally failed, Lionel made sure that there was
a spot beside him at LuthorCorp, where he could once again control him.
Family Matters: Lex did have a brother
when he was twelve years old. That's right: did. Julian died (Alexander, Julian... seeing the wacky and oh-so-coincidental
string of ancient ruler's names) not too long after he was born. Cause of death? The autopsy report said suffocation. But
who would murder a poor little newborn baby? Well, up until Season 3's Memoria, everybody (including Lionel Luthor
and Lex) thought that it was Lex, who actually confessed to the crime. But why would he confess to something he didn't do?
Because he knew that if Lionel found out that Lily Luthor had done it, he would have her killed or imprisoned for
life. But Lex also knew that he was the only remaining heir to the family fortune/business, and that Lionel would
not kill the only person who could take over LuthorCorp when he was gone. Unfortunately, Lex forgot (although how you forget
something like that is way beyond us) that it was not, in fact, he who committed the crime but his mother, who died shortly
after that from a deadly cancer and other terrible string of illnesses. She had never wanted the child, but Lionel had, and
of course, Lionel always got everything that he wanted. Enter: Julian Luthor. Although she loved Julian more than anything
in the world, she killed him. Why? To protect him from the overbearing, soul-killing grip of Lionel. She did not want him
to be as emotionally tramatized by mr. Luthor as Lex was, so she suffocated him. Screwed up, right? Yeah. We know. And- suprise,
suprise- Lionel had one final son. Although it was not with Lily Luthor. It was, in fact, with a woman who he had had an affair
with when Lex was just a young child. The son's name was Lucas. Lionel had paid the woman (whose name we have forgotten,
but will provide you with eventually) to leave him and never contact him again (he forced her to bring Lucas, too). When she
wouldn't, he declared her crazy and had her institutionalized. We never really found out if she was crazy before she left
Lionel, after she came back, or both. In the end, both the woman and Lucas were killed. How sad. But death to Luthors seems
to be a curse. Two of Lionel's children died, yet one survived and even wonderfully prospered. Why? Obviously, he was meant
to do something. The only question is: what? (Could we take a stab in the dark and say that it is to be Clark's--
oops, or should we say Superman's-- arch nemesis??)!
Jonothan Kent
Role: Clark's father, Martha's husband
Kent vs Luthor: Mr. Kent has always had a problem
with the Luthor family. Several years ago, Lionel made a bunch of false business agreements with the Kents' friends, which
made the Kents very angry. When Clark befriended Lex Luthor, Mr. Kent became even more resentful of the Luthors, even though
Clark and Martha both liked him. Martha tried to persuade Jonothan that Lex was different from Lionel; unfortunately, that was
only in vain. Jonothan became convinced that Lex was just like his father.
Martha Kent
Role: Mother to Clark, wife to Jonothan Kent
Can we keep him?! When Jonothan and Martha first found Clark out in the
cornfield, Jonothan did not want to keep him. Or at least, he didn't think that they had the right to. Martha was attempting
to persuade Jonothan to let them keep the toddler (they had not yet named him) when Sheriff Ethan came to the door to check
up on the Kents and make sure that they were all right. Martha had hidden Clark, but he was- of course- too string for her
to hold on to against his will and he ran to the door. Sheriff Ethan asked the Kents "and who's the little guy?", and martha
blurted out "He's our son!- adopted, of course." (she was unable to have children). Jonothan accepted extremely easily and
they adopted him through a company named Metropolis United Charities (Lionel owed the Kents a favor for pulling Lex out
of the cornstalks he was playing in when the meteors hit, so he set up the agency- no questions asked- and forged all of the
papers). He set up MUC and closed it down as soon as the deal was done. The Kents picked a random date off of the calender
for his birthday.
